Investing in forward-thinking and innovative businesses within the commercial heating and ventilation industry1
Start a conversationenquiries@ventilationventures.comVentilation Ventures aims to be amongst the UK's leading HVAC services group through the consolidation and modernisation of a deeply fragmented sector.2
Their own word for the sector is fragmented2. In practice that means independent firms, built and held by the people who started them, and no obvious answer to what happens when those people stop.
Ventilation Ventures buys those firms and keeps them trading under their own names. Gradwood has been Gradwood since 19665 and still works out of Stockport. What changes is what sits behind them.
The reason is energy. Kjøller, who co-own the group, put heating, cooling and ventilation at more than half of what a commercial building spends4 — and modernising those systems is work that only gets done by the firms already on site.
Two businesses in.
The empty rows are the point: Ventilation Ventures is buying more2. Take a business — point at it or tab to it — and its air lights the length of the page.
Succession is the actual transaction.
Ventilation Ventures lists what it does as founder-owned business acquisitions and succession planning2.
If you have spent thirty years building a heating and ventilation company, the question is not what it is worth. It is what happens to it on the Monday after you stop. Who holds the contracts. Who answers to the engineers. Whether the name over the door survives the sale.
Gradwood still trades under its own name, out of Stockport, where it has been since 19665. The holding company behind it is registered in Consett and filed in full at Companies House3.
